More than two dozen leaders and employees of local businesses attended this morning’s monthly breakfast networking meeting of the Plym Chamber of Commerce.

A common theme causing concern to local businesses was the new Data Protection Rules coming into force next year – the New General Data Protection Regulation comes into force on 28th May 2018 and will happen regardless of Brexit.

The morning was rounded off by an amusing presentation by local painter and decorator Paul Mills.

Attendees heard that he was previously a qualified surveyor and Key Stage 2 primary teacher before venturing into business as a painter and decorator.

The audience was informed of the different types of paint used for different projects, including high exposure masonry paint which is needed for properties in coastal areas due to the level of salt in the atmosphere.

Another nugget of information which was imparted is that north facing walls tend to deteriorate more quickly that others as they get less sunlight and the north facing side of trees using have green on their bark!
