Once again Boringdon Park Golf Club was the venue for another busy Plym Chamber monthly Breakfast. Sean Gibson of City College gave a presentation about apprenticeships. We found out that the Government has made a commitment that there will be 3 million apprentices by 2020. Recent apprenticeship reforms, and the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy, will result in an increase in the number of apprentices working within businesses of all sizes. Businesses now truly have control over apprenticeship funds and are now empowered to make their own decisions. In the future the word ‘apprentice’ will relate to ‘a person who is new to post and keen to learn new skills’ and there are plans to have apprenticeships ranging from the new person in an organisation right up to the recently appointed managing director.
If you would like more information on apprenticeships, the funding available and the benefit that they will bring to your business please contact Sean Gibson at City College Plymouth on 01752 305026 or sgibson@cityplym.ac.uk
